Visiting Luang Prabang in Laos

They say of Luang Prabang what is the most romantic city of Laos or maybe from all of Southeast Asia. After having spent a couple of nights there, I don't think so.

We arrived at the city from Vang Vieng, about 10 hours - about 300kms - to the south. Like most Laos tourist spots, it is better that you book accommodation in advance if you are traveling in high season. If not, you will pay higher prices and you will have to take a good walk loaded with your backpacks, as happened to us. The Guest Houses that overlook either of the two rivers are more expensive, so I advise you to stay in any of the tangle of alleyways that lead to the riverbank. We found a double room with bathroom, television and free wi-fi for 15 Kips after negotiation. It was almost the cheapest of what little was available at that time of night.

The next day we rent some bicycles for 15,000 Kips and we went out to challenge the inclement midday sun. In a machoman boot it occurred to me to try the madness of going to the small waterfall of $ but it is more than 35 kilometers and leaving at 1 in the afternoon it is better not to try. So we went down the road that leads to the waterfall and saw some villages that overlook the road.

When we returned to the city we walked around the riverbank of the Mekong And we ate in a small restaurant overlooking the river. There is a small beach on the other side that can be accessed by a wooden bridge.

We watched the sunset from one of the pagodas and after dinner we walked around the great nightlife of a place where everything closes at 11 p.m. jumble sale. In it you can find many types of manufactured objects, clothes, lamps and cheap food. One of the streets perpendicular to the street of the market offers dinner for 1 Kips, being able to choose, in buffet style, among several types of typical ingredients of the country.

You can also find sandwiches made with baguettes - omnipresent reminiscence of the French occupation - and great banana, carrot, chocolate, coconut cakes and many more flavors at very cheap prices. I recommend you buy your dessert or breakfast the next day at this position.

The juices Watermelon, banana, pineapple and mixed are everywhere just 5,000 Kips and every day they fell at least 2 or 3.

We spent a day and a half there by the avalanche of tourism that we found but there are people who love the place and stay long periods. As you know: "to taste the colors" and we decided that Luan Prabang did not give for more.
