The contraction of the gymnast with rock formations
Although it may seem a lie, the south of France still keeps secrets for the traveler that have been very little exploited at the tourist level. When we already thought we knew everything about our neighboring country, a place worthy of appearing on a cover of the usual tourist brochures of the Gallic country suddenly appears in the middle of the road where the most common destinations always happen.
In the nearby region of Eastern Pyrenees, where the city of Perpignan is located, there are a few daily excursions that are worthwhile and the best of all is that, for the most part, you can enjoy them without tourist crowds.
Among them I highlight a pleasant surprise that we found very close to the city of Perpignan. Is about Les Orgues d'Ille sur Têt, an amazing rock formation overlooking the great mountain of Canigó. A beautiful natural spectacle sculpted by the incessant work of water and wind through the centuries.

As the name implies, imagine a church organ of gigastescas proportions carved on the rock. Les Orgues d'Ille sur Têt offers impossible ways such as fairy chimneys -or also called ladies with hat- and other structures in the stone that seem carved by the skillful hand of a contemporary artist, with the exception that it has been time and the natural effects that have been forming these curious geometric shapes.
If you have previously been to Cappadocia in Turkey you can get an idea thanks to its geology similarity and the effects of the centuries on the profile of the land. Of course, fortunately to reach Les Orgues we will have it much easier to be just 25 minutes by car from Perpignan.
In the main enclosure you can leave your car in the parking lot and you will find the main ticket offices of Les Orgues. There you must buy the access ticket (4.5 euros per person), they will provide you with a map and they will detail a nice tour of the easily accessible area and approximately one hour.
