Travel to the Perhentian Islands and not moving from the resort is a practice not advisable although we met a couple who barely moved a few meters during their stay. The ease of moving around the islands Thanks to the abundance of taxi-boats or on your own by kayak and discovering different beaches and coral invite anyone to enjoy different places, explore the interior jungle and fall in love with your favorite beach corner.
During our stay in the Perhentian Islands for five nights we stayed on the big island Besar although we also made a few raids on his little sister, the island of Kecil.
We detail below the different beaches that we liked most of the Perhentian islands:
Besar Island: from north to south
Arriving at Turtle Beach in Besar
Is about one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The water depth and the relatively large bay offers a good bath. Do not forget to take your snorkel glasses as you will find good coral and an interesting variety of fish.
Also, you will see on the beach a small protected area with networks where apparently the locals turtle eggs accumulate during its time of reproduction. The month of August is included among them and the beach closes during that time from three in the afternoon to facilitate the turtles return to the beach and leave their eggs. Unfortunately, we saw that neither people nor boat-taxis paid attention to the norm. Good snorkeling, fish and coral more or less in good condition.
Mini Turtle beach:
Right next to Turtle Bay is a tiny bay where you can enjoy alone or as a couple in the morning. You will not find anyone but you will not encounter shadow areas to rest from the sun. Good snorkeling although we found some dirt on the beach. Unlike many of the beaches we visit in the Perhentians, the tide is not a problem during the afternoon.
