Health Agreements with South America

I will travel to South America and about a month ago I discovered by chance that Spain has agreements with several countries in health matter. It was when I called the Brazilian Embassy in Madrid and a friendly official told me about this possibility.

from a family member's card (such as parents).

It will be necessary to present the original in case you need the medical service.

The coverage covers the 90 days following the date of issue of the certificate. Keep this theme in mind, because if it is a long trip like mine, you will have to hurry this paperwork and leave it for the last day, trying to make the most of the timing of its provision.

Being in possession of this certificate will make you beneficiary of the health benefits established by the legislation and Public Health Services of the country in which you are traveling, during the period of time authorized by the Spanish Social Security.

In my case I will use the benefit for Brazil and perhaps for Ecuador and Chile. The certificate for these last 2 countries will be processed by my family here once I have left and they will send it to me through my girlfriend when she comes to see me. Remember that they will not accept copies, fax or email (or at least that is the norm).

With this I will cut the temporary need for private insurance that I will also do so as not to be left unprotected in the rest of the countries, also reducing its price.

From previous experiences, I don't have much faith in terms of theft or loss coverage, but to me, the one that really matters to me is health. It is undoubtedly our most precious asset.

Only 9 days left!
